Zuri Zanzibar Hotel & Resort

Luxury that doesn't shout. Beauty that stays with you long after you leave.

There are places you see in photos and think: "it probably looks worse in real life." Zuri Zanzibar is the exception. When I first saw those bamboo villas nestled among tropical greenery, overlooking the Indian Ocean — the photos turned out to be too modest.

Architecture and design

Zuri is the work of a Swedish architect, and you can feel it immediately. The entire resort is built from natural materials — bamboo, wood, stone. The villas are scattered across a hillside so that each one has privacy and its own view. There are no large concrete blocks or carpeted corridors. Instead, there's jungle, paths among trees, and silence.

Beach and pool

The resort sits on Kendwa Beach — one of the few beaches in Zanzibar where you can swim all day regardless of the tide. That's a major plus. The beach is clean, sun loungers aren't crammed together, and the water is literally a few steps from the pool. The pool itself is stunning — infinity with an ocean view. In the evenings, music plays by the pool, but not too loud. The vibe is relaxing, not party.

Food

The restaurant serves fresh seafood, local spices, and a fusion of Swahili and European cuisine. Breakfasts are generous — tropical fruits, eggs prepared various ways, fresh bread. A candlelit dinner with an ocean view is one of those experiences that's hard to forget. Prices are higher than local restaurants, but the quality justifies it.

Who is Zuri for?

For couples on a honeymoon or anniversary trip. For those who want luxury without ostentation. For travelers who appreciate design and nature more than grand hotel lobbies. Zuri isn't for families with small children or those looking for all-inclusive with animators. It's a place for adults who truly want to disconnect.
